About this event

A Pageant of Great Women, written by Cicely Hamilton, (1910) was one of the most successful plays of the British women’s suffrage movement. The play laid the foundations for the legal arguments for the vote by creating a court setting in which ‘Woman’ and ‘Prejudice’ (represented by Man) set out the case for and against women’s enfranchisement before ‘Justice’. This play, with its substantial cast of performers and singers - directed by British based theatre professional Illona Linthwaite, and with music direction by Amy Barton, demonstrates the power of ‘great’ women throughout history, as they have taken a stand to defend themselves against the many unjust prejudices of man. It also reminds us that the struggle against such prejudices and the fight for equal rights is still very much a contemporary fight in many parts of the world today.

The performance will be followed by an Aperitivo at All Saints' Anglican church.
Suggested minimum donation of 15 euro/person paid at the door.
